Reader's Guide

To craft a Gold Bar, players must place five units of Gold Ore into a Furnace along with one unit of fuel, such as coal or wood. The smelting process takes exactly thirty minutes in-game time, during which the furnace cannot be used for other items. Once crafted, Gold Bars are primarily utilized to upgrade tools at Clint's Blacksmith shop. Specifically, they are required to upgrade a Pickaxe from Iron to Gold tier and an Axe from Iron to Gold tier. These upgrades drastically increase mining speed and tree-chopping efficiency, which is vital for clearing large areas of the farm or progressing through the Skull Cavern. Additionally, Gold Bars are used in several advanced recipes, including the creation of the Gold Pickaxe (if not upgrading), the Gold Axe, and various complex items like the Gold Clock. They can be sold directly for a moderate profit, though their value as crafting materials usually outweighs their raw sell price.
